Project overview
This was a project to design a bank card app. There were two goals:
1. Primary goal: enabling the storage of users’ card details
2.Secondary goal: allowing users to block their cards as and when required.
My Contributions
I spearheaded this project, and was responsible for the entire design for both iOS and Android. Working closely with the client, I took the designs all the way from concept to ‘ready for development’.
Feedback
R.B - Business Analyst
"Alex is one of my favorite UI/UX Designers that I had the pleasure to work with. We had some very productive ideation sessions that helped us better understand the needs and pains of our users, I can tell that his work is user centered and that his designs aim to help the user to get to their goals smoothly. Alex is a good team-player and has really good ideas when it comes to UI/UX. Would be glad to work with him again and I do recommend him."
Approach
With no budget for external research, I took it upon myself to define and meet the project goals. I performed a competitor analysis, determined a set of assumptions, and led an ideation workshop involving all stakeholders (business analyst, product manager, developers, etc.). At this stage I was also creating the content and finding out what is the required data we could use (e.g: what type of information can we use to block cards?)
Ideating
My competitor analysis formed the basis of the lightning talk I gave at the kick-off of the ideation workshop, which had two fundamental aims:

1. Involve and inspire the entire team
2. Generate as many ideas as possible.

I developed a set of scenarios to ensure we stayed focused on the app’s primary and secondary goals.
Connecting everything
After ideation, I turned the results of the workshop into a flow, a set of wireframes and then followed by a prototype.
Review & buy-in
Once the client, other designers and the rest of my team - had fed back on the prototype, I made a few minor changes.

Improvements
The unmoderated tests that I carried out revealed no major pain points, but did provide some good ideas that I evolved into useful additional functionality, such as ‘family accounts’, where users could store the card details of their spouse and children. I have also designed the dark mode for the application to be in line with iOS13 requirements.
Final thoughts
Once launched, I was very pleased with the reviews the app received - and so was the client as the metrics looked favourable.
